Midwife and Mother of 2 Children

My journey to becoming a midwife was not a traditional one. I had very intervention loaded births with my two beautiful daughters, I experienced great support with my first baby and a woeful lack of support with my second, and those experiences set me on a road to providing personalised care for women and their families.

Working with women who are navigating the labyrinth that is pregnancy, birth and early parenting is the second most rewarding thing I have ever done after having my own two children. I love watching the transformation of women into mothers, being present for them and helping them to have the best experience possible.

I learnt to be a midwife alongside a homebirth midwife from Brisbane who took me to births and showed me how to sit quietly and be patient, loving and encouraging. Her work inspired me to embark on midwifery training.

I love homebirth with a deep passion and believe with all my heart that it should always be an option for women with normal pregnancies. I believe that continuity and a relationship with a known midwife should be available to all women, especially those with high-risk pregnancies as these are the women I think would benefit most from a consistent source of information.

The foundation of my practice is the concept of Informed Choice. The belief that my role is one of sharing information and knowledge and helping the woman and her family come to the decision that is right for them.

Prior to becoming a Midwife I studied Naturopathy. I bring to my midwifery practice a solid foundation in Nutrition, Herbal medicine and Mineral Therapy.
