Profile

Midwife and mother of Eden

I have been passionate about all things birth since training as a doula in 1999 the city of Melbourne.  After attending that first birth I knew I wanted to step into the midwife’s shoes.

In 2002 I began midwifery study in New Zealand which proved to be a rich training ground, I worked independently after graduating, in hospitals, birth centres and home.  I have worked in rural and tertiary hospitals, and in private practice for the last 15 years in Australia.

I love that midwifery is both an art and science and my approach is underpinned by mindfulness, somatic movement and consent frameworks.  As a midwife I am your witness, companion and advocate.  My role is to support and facilitate families to have an empowered birth experience.

Independent practice enables me to provide a continuity of care model, which research shows provides optimal birth outcomes and high levels of satisfaction for both women and midwives.  I enjoy the creativity of including my interests in bodywork, mindfulness and movement with my midwifery practice.

I am a Holistic Pelvic Care™ and Self:Cervix practitioner providing bodywork for women across the lifespan.  My consultations include tools for self care in preparation for birth and as lifelong tools for parenting.  I work from Mana Health Practice where I facilitate a weekly mindfulness meditation group for pregnant women (manahealthpractice.com).

Please note we do not have professional indemity insurance (PII) for labour & birth. Midwives have a regulatory requirement to have PII but are unable to obtain the product due to a world wide shortage of  PII for midwives.

Therefore Midwives in private practice have been provided with an exemption for homebirth until June 30th 2025.

The Midwives working within the Collective have  PII for antenatal and postnatal care with MIGA.

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout Victoria and pay respect to the ongoing living cultures of First Peoples.
