Danielle Sorbello
Midwife and Mother of Daisy Maria

For as long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to pregnancy and birth. When I was a little girl I loved reading my Mother’s pregnancy and women’s health books. I even got up in the middle of the night to witness my pets giving birth. It truly fascinates me, and as soon as I discovered the role of a midwife I knew it was meant to be.
I grew up in a small country town in Gippsland, then lived in Warrnambool, Geelong and Melbourne while completing my Nursing and Midwifery studies. Along the way, I was able to gain valuable experience all over Victoria, including witnessing my first water birth at Rosebud Hospital.
Fast forward to 2009 and I started working as a Graduate Midwife at The Royal Women’s Hospital. I was so passionate about continuity of care that I joined the COSMOS Caseload Midwifery team the following year.
In 2012, after a few months of international travel, I moved up to Brisbane. One of my career highlights was joining a Midwifery Group Practice called “Birthing In Our Community”. It was a brand new program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, and is still going strong today. Working closely with the community was so special and a privilege I will never forget. I absolutely adored my team and the families we connected with along the way. I was often considered the “family midwife”, caring for sisters, cousins, aunties and best friends. It was an amazing experience and still makes me smile when I think about my time there.
In 2017, my husband Anthony and I welcomed our beautiful daughter Daisy into this world, supported by my wonderful colleagues. It confirmed for me how important it is to be surrounded by people that you know and trust. I strongly believe that every woman deserves to have a known Midwife during her pregnancy, birthing and postnatal period.
In 2018, we made the move back down to Victoria to be closer to family and friends. I started working with Juliana Brennan at Mamatoto Midwives in 2020 and I know I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
Becoming a Private Midwife is a dream come true and it makes me so happy to be providing true woman centred care. My role is to ensure women feel safe, supported, empowered and confident during their Motherhood journey.
I love supporting families to make informed choices every step of the way. Knowledge really is power! Giving birth is a normal life event, and my passion is promoting a positive experience for the entire family.
