       Profile  &           Philosophy

I feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing group of midwives who provide a holistic and empowering approach to continuity of care to a diverse cluster of women during their most precious time.

I was born in New Zealand, the land of midwifery autonomy and a world class continuity of care model available to all women.

I started my midwifery career later in life after making my own beautiful family. I had always wanted to be nurse since I was a little girl and follow in my grand-mother’s footsteps. I never knew what kind of nurse I wanted to be, until I was heavily pregnant with my first child.

During my third trimester I experienced the holistic care of an independent midwife. I fell in love with the idea of being a midwife from that day forth. I wanted to share the respect and empowerment that I had received. A wealth of companionship and grace was bestowed onto me throughout my pregnancy and birth, I wanted other women to share in my experience.

My midwifery journey started in 2012 at a more mature age than others, as a postgraduate midwife at Warragul Hospital in South Eastern Melbourne on the western edge of Gippsland, where I have continued with my career and have had the privilege of providing women with individualised care.

After 6 years of hospital midwifery, I felt like something was missing, I was no longer happy just providing hospital care. The community called to me, a holistic midwifery approach to continuity of care was just what was needed.

I enrolled in Griffith University in 2017 and started my masters of primary maternity care, in which I was able to gain my prescribing rights and became registered as a medicare endorsed practising midwife.

I believe the philosophy of ‘being with woman’ is fundamental to being a midwife, alongside empowering women to achieve the pregnancy and birth that they want. I am honoured to be welcomed to share the scared space of a women’s pregnancy and birth.

I provide care on the outer suburbs of South Eastern Melbourne, within West Gippsland and surrounding areas, South Gippsland and through to the east of Gippsland.
